She felt the velvety flowers as it brushed against her skin. Knowing that this is the last time she would see him, her stomach tied up a knot. The museum, what a strange place to meet, it was surprisingly packed; she heard tens of footsteps surrounding her yet it felt as if they were miles away.

Although she only waited for 3 minutes, she lost sense of time and felt like forever before he came walking in. It was as if she was seeing him for the first time, her spine shivered as he took her hands in his for hello, just like how they shook the first time they met. He drew her closer, and his cologne filled the air around her and took in as much as she can through her lungs. She handed him the bouquet of yellow roses and he flashed her this dazzling smile of his, as a thank you.

How I managed to publish Unreal Ghost

Published 09/02/2013 by Noorhan Aboubakr

I’ve been getting a lot of e-mails and Facebook messages about how I managed to get my book out and the exact process.

Here how it went:

My lovely grandmother read about the publisher Amany El-Tunsi in the newspaper, and her publishing house Shabab-Books. She told me I should contact her. I told her sure I will; in fact, I wasn’t really interested. After a while, I did send her an e-mail with a sample of my story. Truth is, I never really thought I’d get a response. Few weeks later, I get an e-mail, completely out of the blue, from Amany herself; saying she’s interested in the sample I sent her and would like to discuss it. Later on we met, she talked about her publishing agency and her book, and we discussed the contract; which was completely to the point.

Concerning the design of the cover, they have their own designer, or you can get your own designer and the cost will be totally on your own.

Some of the questions that I also got, was the payment. It’s very clear; the agency check how much printing the book will cost and will divide it equally between the writer and the agency. Costs differ from a book to another, depending on how many papers, size of paper and the cover page. Pretty fair =D

After the book it out, the publishing agency is responsible to send it to different bookstores. Some bookstores take the book immediately, some other take a while from few weeks, to few months.

I hope this answers your questions, and I hope I helped.

I wish you good luck with your writings and maybe someday you’ll get it out for everyone to read!

A portion of “Unreal Ghost” – My first horror book

A part from Chapter 10:

Something made her wonder… On the desks there were, papers, pens, and full cups of tea. Did people just decide not to come to work one day?

She moved to another office, almost the same shape. Employees just decided not to show up. How odd could this get?

She walked till the last office in the corridor. It said ‘Staff affairs’ on the door’s glass. The door was already open, so she got in. Again, it looked like people just stopped coming; notebooks and folders thrown carelessly on the desks. On her left- there was a huge wardrobe. Huge black folders were neatly stuffed beside each other. They were placed according to dates; yearly. She grabbed the last folder. The one that seemed interesting the most. The one she thought she may find answers within. On the cover, it said 1963.

As frightened as she was, she placed the folder on the desk, and opened it carefully. Stretching her arms downwards to it as if something will jump on her from the folder. It had details of employees, the date of hiring, their salaries, addresses, telephone numbers and their positions. It was alphabetically ordered. She took out the small paper from her pocket, the one she wrote the name on; Tawfiq ElDidi. She went through all the pages. So many names, it must have been a great business back in the day. She skipped pages till she reached the letter T… and she paused.

A shadow passed by as fast as a lightning.

She stopped. She did not even flip the whole page over. She could not move her hand, her legs or even blink. She closed the folder back and hugged it tight to her chest. She walked through the door and out to the corridor. Something went wrong with the building.

Without a warning, all the doors started slamming, one after the other. They slammed too hard that the glass broke out of it.

She felt the fear run through her body and ran as fast as she could. She ran without looking behind her. The doors were slamming, and the machines were moving. They made a terrible noise. She trembled over one of them, and before she stood up, she saw him.

She saw his face. A face of a demon.
